John was... kind of annoyed.
After all, he'd thought he could skate by without classes before he'd gotten the little envelope on his pillow this morning with his 'gift' from Walker. The man was an asshole, but he did have his ways about him. It was what made him one of the most feared beings in the Nightside, after all, bowler hat and snappy suit aside.
But he'd gone, because even though Walker couldn't technically order him to do anything he figured he'd make the best of things while he could. After all, as much as it might be fun to get himself kicked out and tossed back home until Walker or the Collector could figure out something to do with him, he was somewhat relieved to be out of the Nightside, no matter how much he missed it.
He was pretty sure the Harrowing couldn't follow him here.
To be fair, he hadn't tried to fire up his gift here at all; he hadn't so much as wiped the gunk out of his private eye let alone tried to open it. After the last time, well... he had no desire to test such a theory when he had no reason to. The consequences were never good.
Instead, he was in his room, reading the edition of the
Night Times that had been left with the letter. The
Unnatural Inquirer had been left for him as well, but he figured he'd save that for if he had any desperate bird cage emergencies.
Even if he didn't own a bird.
